You Can Help Keep Kratom Legal

Jul 14, 2026

Kratom keps getting banned — not because of the science, but because of the silence.

Lawmakers voting on kratom access are working from a single survey conducted in 2017. Eight years old. One time. From memory. That's the entire data foundation for decisions affecting millions of people.

Log & Taper It exists to change that.

This isn't just a tracking app

Log & Taper It tracks what kratom does to real people — dose by dose, day by day, in real time.

  • Log every dose — amount, strain, vendor, time of day
  • Tag your effects — 100 effect tags across 5 categories, from pain relief to focus to nausea
  • Track over time — see your usage patterns, taper progress, and how your experience changes
  • Contribute anonymously — your data joins the largest real-time kratom dataset ever collected

No names. No identifying information. Ever.

Why this matters right now

The FDA recommended scheduling 7-hydroxymitragynine — a concentrated kratom extract — in July 2025. The DEA is reviewing it now.

Nine states have already banned kratom entirely. Several of them didn't distinguish between plain leaf powder and high-potency concentrates. They banned everything because there was no data showing the difference.

That's the problem this app is trying to solve.

When a legislator asks "who uses kratom and why?" — right now, nobody has a real answer. No real-time data. No comprehensive picture of what responsible plain leaf use actually looks like.

Every dose you log helps build that answer.

What your data actually shows

Log & Taper It! captures something very valuable to policymakers: human outcomes.

  • Who is using kratom
  • How much and how often
  • What effects they experience at what doses
  • Which strains and vendors they use
  • How use changes over time
  • What people are using kratom for — pain, anxiety, opioid withdrawal, energy, focus

This is the dataset that has never existed. Researchers and legislators cite the same 2017 survey over and over because there's nothing better. We're building something better.

The data no one else is collecting

The most referenced kratom survey asked 8,049 users to recall their use from memory — once, in 2017.

Log & Taper It collects real-time data, continuously, from users across the world. No recall bias. No one-time snapshot. A living dataset that grows every time someone logs a dose.

This is the difference between asking someone what they ate last month versus watching them eat every meal in real time.

Lawmakers can dismiss anecdotes. It's much harder to dismiss a real-time dataset of tens of thousands of users with documented doses, effects, strains, and usage context — especially when researchers can point to it in a hearing.

Where we're going

Right now the app captures user experience — what kratom does to people. The next step is pairing that with vendor lab data.

Eventually, I want to build a database that links user-reported effects to specific brands, batches, and alkaloid profiles. You log your vendor and strain today. When lab reports get attached to those vendors down the road, your historical logs become part of a richer dataset than anything that's ever existed for this plant.

That starts with you logging now.

Built by a kratom user, for kratom users

This app wasn't built by a company or a lobbying group. It was built by one person who needed to track their own use — and realized the data being collected could matter far beyond my own situation.

The dataset grows every time someone downloads it, and opts into the sync feature. There's no finish line where this becomes useful — it's useful from the first log.

I have built a sponsor system to help mitigate costs for all of this. When you purchase a subscription, you are also purchasing slots that other people can use to participate in this dataset.

More on that is described here

If you use kratom, this is the most concrete thing you can do to protect access. Not a petition. Not a comment on social media. Actual real-world data, collected in real time, that could be cited when policy decisions are being made.

Download the app. Log your doses. Be the data.

Are you a Kratom Vendor?

If you are a vendor, you can help as well. I've created a vendor program that will help solidify your position as a responsible party in a self regulated market, with the data to prove that your product is safe and is helping people.

Already logging? Share this page with someone else who uses kratom. The dataset gets stronger with every user.
