How Sponsoring Works
Sponsoring on the Log & Taper It! app allows you to help crowdfund Kratom research.
You can use a premium subscription to give free users access to participate in the study, through Sponsor Codes, which then contributes to valuable research. This is needed now, more than ever to help ensure a future where kratom is properly evaluated and not just villainized.
This creates a sustainable system where paying users fund the research and active users provide the data.
When you sign up for a premium subscription, you'll earn sponsor slots. These slots accumulate over time—
Pro subscribers gets 2 slots a month.
Supporter subscribers get 5 slots per month. Sponsors can create their own custom sponsor code, and free users can redeem this code from within the app.
These slots are cumulative, so a Pro subscription adds up to 50 slots after ten months. As long as your subscription remains active, all of these users can participate in the study.
When someone uses your code, one of your slots becomes "active" and is locked to that person (Sponsored User). As long as they remain active on the app by logging complete dose info, they will continue to have free access. This system ensures the slots are going to people who are actively contributing data for research.
If a Sponsored user stops logging doses for seven days, their free access is automatically revoked. The slot then returns to you and can be used to sponsor someone new. You can also donate any unused slots to a community pool. These donated slots are managed by the admin, and used to create special codes that can be distributed more widely, such as on social media or through partnerships, to encourage even more people to participate in the research. These slots will also be used to enure that users that are consistently logging quality data (Tracking Effects, and Vendor/Color/Strain Info, and answering surveys), will be allowed to continue participating in the study.
The app also provides a dashboard where you can see the total research impact of the users you've sponsored, allowing you to track your contribution to the research community, through Research Points.

Don't want a premium subscription but still want to support kratom research? You can purchase sponsor slots directly for the community pool at $2.20 per slot. These donations fund free research access for users who can't afford premium subscriptions, and every donated slot helps expand the research dataset. Your donation impact is tracked permanently and can be viewed anytime using your email address on our Research Impact page, whether or not you use the app.
